For a number of years now l have participated in a painting class at the Livingstone Community Centre. I have found it a pleasant and friendly environment conducive to learning and developing my artskills. The teacher has always been helpful and encouraging and has demonstrated different methods and techniques in painting. The other members of the class have been supportive and friendly.
I (Jeanette Le Page) sent an email to the Community centre, to let you know I was not continuing of with the painting class! I realised that I may not have signed off on it but it actually went before ( I must’ve touched something accidentally) I had finished.
I thought that the organisation maybcontact me and ask why I wasn’t coming back, but they didn’t. Very disappointed!
The reasons are, that I did not feel comfortable there.
The first time I was there and went to pay, a male staff member tried to shut the door in my face as I was going in to the office! He was really rude and the woman who was taking my payment seemed to be quite embarrassed!
Also the few times that I went into the kitchen there were a few women in there doing things in relation to food bank on both of those days I felt that I was in their way. One women said to me in a very aggressive way ‘ what are you doing in here?’ Not sure who she was, but I think she could’ve been a volunteer. I felt very uncomfortable to say the least!
